México Day 10 : Monte Albán

Before heading to the Coast of Oaxaca, I finally visited Monte Albán. Monte Albán is one of the most important archeological sites of Prehispanic Mexico, and my priority to visit during my stay. And it didn't disappoint at all! Me and my friend wandered for hours in the ruins in the company of a guide, who taught me everything about the Zapotec culture. I'm specialized in the Aztec culture and didn't know a thing about the Zapotecs, so I was happy to learn more about this other aspect of Prehispanic Mexico. The ruins where so impressive that I could stay there for hours, just staring at these massive constructions and enjoying the breathtaking nature...

México Day 9 : Hierve el Agua - Mitla - Tlacochahuaya - Tule

Day 9 was without a doubt one of the highlights of my Mexico trip. We woke up early to go hiking in Hierve el Agua. I saw landscapes so beautiful that they looked unreal. Although I was a bit sick that day and the hike was very heavy on me, I'm so happy that my friend took me there. It's simply breathtaking. Most of the tourists who go there only see the natural pool and leave. Don't get me wrong, the natural pool is amazing, but if you go on a hike with one of the guides there, you discover tons of amazing landscapes you won't see otherwise. Hierve el Agua definitely is in my top 3 of things to see in Mexico! ♥

After that, we went visiting Mitla, an archeological site in the state of Oaxaca

After that we stopped at the church of Tlacochahuaya, one of the most beautiful and special churches I've seen in my life. And let me tell you, I've seen A LOT of churches already.

When we were walking around in Tlacochahuaya, I saw for the first time the phenomenon of "Acción Poética". This movement writes love phrases on walls everywhere in Latin America. I'm so obsessed with these phrases! Each time I spot one I take a picture, because it's so simple, yet so beautiful and inspirational.

In my heart I build you a house, please come by sometimes.

This has been one of the busiest days of my trip. After Tlacochahuaya we went to Tule, to see the famous árbol de Tule. Unfortunately it was already to dark to see the famous deformations on the trunk of the tree, so I guess I have to go back one time. But the short stop was worth it, because otherwise I wouldn't have seen the most kitsch mayor's office of the whole world

After that we finally went back to Oaxaca capital, where I ate like a pig ;) Such a good day!

México Day 8 : Oaxaca

I absolutely love eating breakfast in Mexico! My favorite breakfast takes place at the local markets, where you can eat tons of fresh fruit and smoothies for no money! ♥

I feel myself always attracted to these kind of markets: the colors, the smells, ... Take me back, please!

La Virgen is everywhere. She didn't protect me against wasting too much money though :/

After visiting the market, we went further with our Oaxaca visit, how cute is this colorful house?!

México Day 7 : Oaxaca, the wedding.

On my second day in Oaxaca, I wake up because someone was banging my door. At 7 o'clock. I wasn't amused. Turns out that the singers arrived to sing for la virgen. Mexicans are very religious and la virgen is everything for them, even more important than Jesus! Although the national virgen is la Virgen de Guadalupe, there are lots of other vírgines as well. The family of my friend particularly prays to la virgen de Juquila. I was so honored to have witnessed this tradition, it's a moment I'll cherish forever.

After that it was time to get pretty, because I was invited to go to a wedding. So cool to see how diferent weddings are in Mexico. And let me tell you, the best parties are in Mexico ♥

I'm so happy to call these people my Mexican family. Never I have seen a family more united and more loving than the Reyes Family ♥
