Hunger Games: the end

An era has come to its end: The Hunger Games are no more. I'm kinda sad that we'll never hear of Katniss again. Fortunately, I haven't read the books yet (I know, shame on me), so I'm still in for a treat. The Hunger Games will always be the movies that made me fall in love with Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth. About the movie itself... Man, how good are those gamemakers... I'm so fascinated by their creations, although they're highly sadistic. The sweetest moment? Finnick and Annie's wedding! I still hate that Finnick had to die :( I'm glad that the group decided to not do a last Hunger Games with the children of the Capitol, it's crazy that humanity wins after such suffering. In my opinion, if there would have been a last Hunger Games, it would last for 30 minutes, since all the Capitol's children aren't used to struggle to live...

Midnight in Paris

Years ago, I saw Midnight in Paris in Spain. Dubbed, obviously, so a lot of its magic went missing. Years later, I finally found this movie on dvd and watched it in English. Sigh, this movie is so magical. As a Master in Litterature, you can only imagine my envy towards the main character. Partying with Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Picasso, Dalí and many more? Can this be my life, please? This is without a doubt my favorite Woody Allen movie so far. And if you'll excuse me now, I have to buy me a ticket to Paris! ♥

Saturday Night Fever

Everybody knows the disco songs from the Bee Gees. But I got to admit I didn't know the movies behind their hits: first Staying Alive and afterwards Saturday Night Fever. The two movies that made John Travolta a dancing sex symbol. The movies are hugely dated and Travolta's character is an asshole (I'm totally Team Zuko), but you got to see these classics. Highly entertaining to say the least :p

Bel Ami

I'm such a sucker for French costume dramas. Hence my love for the movie Bel Ami. Everybody always laughs with Robert Pattinson, saying he is a lousy actor, but I really think he's not. My proof? Films like Water for elephants and Bel Ami. The casting director of this movie has clearly the best taste ever regarding actresses, because each one of them is a personal favorite of mine: Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas. I do hate the fact that Kristin is playing such a weak woman in the movie, because to me, she's a powerhouse! She's been my favorite ever since I've discovered The English Patient. But if you can excuse me now, I need to buy Bel Ami the book, I'm sure I'll love it :)

The Ardennes

The Ardennes, or in my language, D'Ardennen, is the last Belgian movie I saw in the cinema. I didn't had high expectations, but man, this movie has a killer end that I didn't saw coming! The story is about two whitetrash brothers and a girl. Because face it, in the end it's always about a girl. Two of the main actors are Kevin Janssens and Veerle Baetens, so I kinda could have known I was in for a good ride. One thing is sure: next time I'm in The Ardennes, I will be a little more scared in the woods...

The Maze Runner : The Scorch Trials

It's kinda funny story how I came to watch this movie. Some time ago, I gave Tinder a chance. I know, what was I thinking :D So I met a guy and he seemed perfect... until we met up and went to the movies. I won't get into the details, but major douchbag alert! The only good thing about our date was the movie (haha). I'm still obsessed with this trilogy, although the second movie couldn't be more different than the first one: read scary zombies af. I really have to start reading the books asap! And don't forget: Wicked is good!

Narcos

Another Netflix favorite of mine? Narcos! The true story about the Colombian king of narcotrafics: Pablo Escobar. I discovered lots of new great actors, like the Mexican Ana de la Reguera and ofcourse Pablo itself: Wagner Moura. Moura is actually a brasilian who had to learn Spanish in order to portray Escobar. How crazy is that?! Nobody could do him justice like Wagner, such a great actor! With oneliners like plata o plomo (money or bullet), Narcos is my Netflix favorite of the year. Can't wait until the second season! ♥
