Blogger hiatus

Today is my last post for the coming 3 weeks. Tomorrow I'm forced to say goodbye to the love of my life, my roomie, my everything: my sweet baby love, my beloved dog Zara has to be put to sleep. Saturday I found out that she has cancer and she's suffering too much. This is the hardest decision I've ever made, but I only want to best for her.

On Saturday I'm leaving for Mexico, where I'll spend 3 weeks. I was so looking forward to this trip, but I'm actually so sad that I don't care anymore. But I guess it'll be easier grieving over there, instead of hanging out in my apartment, where everything makes me think about her. In 3 weeks I'll be back, hopefully with refound energy.

Thanks for bearing with me ♥

Bullying

This video made me think of my own childhood. I experienced bullying, and it's the worst feeling ever. Thankfully my mom made me change school, which changed my whole life. My second school let me experience how incredibly amazing highschool can be! I went from zero to twenty friends, from a very shy to a very social girl. The bullying helped me shape into the person I am now, and I pledge to never bully myself and to always help other people out! Befriend people who are lonely, in the end these people will be the most grateful and loyal friends a person can ask for. Take the pledge against bullying now! ♥

The Hunger Games: Catching fire

I'm so obsessed with The Hunger Games. Yesterday I went to the avant-première of Catching Fire and it was so good! I hate the fact that I'll have to wait for ages to see the last instalment. The movie is so cruel, but actually very realistic. The Hunger games remind me instantly of the gladiators in Ancient Rome and the punishments and totalitarian regime of the Second World War.

Each and every character is perfectly casted. In the first movie I was totally on team Gale, but Peeta is seriously growing on me! And don't get me started on Katniss... Jennifer Lawrence is sublime as the stubborn Katniss Everdeen. And I love the fact how mature Primrose has gotten! Willow Shields is definitely one to watch!

After LOTR, The Hunger Games is by far my favorite trilogy! I'm sorry Twilight!

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Since I was little, I watched the Mummy movies in awe. My crush on Brendan Fraser and my passion for Ancient Egypt were the main reasons. These movies also got me to know one of my favorite actresses, Rachel Weisz. The fact that Weisz wasn't portraying Evelyne anymore, got me a little sceptic for the last The Mummy installment. But since Maria Bello, who I absolutely adore thanks to her portraying of Anna Del Amico in ER, is replacing Weisz, I just had to give it a go. And I was pleasantly surprised! Normally replacements suck big time, but Maria Bello really did justice to Evelyne, and the chemistry between her and Brendan Fraser was as good as with Weisz. I'm a fan! But I'm confused wether I keep going my crush on Brendan Fraser or if I'm going all the way for Luke Ford, a.k.a. Rick and Evelyne's son ♥

Marina

You just have to see this movie made in my country, Belgium! It's about an Italian family that emigrates to Belgium, and more specifically about their son, who becomes an international celebrated singer: Rocco Granata. He even went to New York to sing his worldwide hit Marina, so cool! The actor who plays Rocco is so freaking hot, I totally love him!

I saw this movie in the cinema on Saturday, and I'm still stuck with Marina in my head. Such a moving, emotional yet feel good movie who learns us yet again that you always have to fight for your ideals and never give up! And who knew accordeon music could be so beautiful? I'm hooked! ♥

Los abrazos rotos

After La piel que habito, I also finally watched Los abrazos rotos. Not with Antonio Banderas this time, but with Almodóvar's muse : Penelope Cruz. How gorgeous can a woman be? To me, Penelope Cruz is so breathtakingly perfect! It's a very diferent movie, but as always very original. And intriguing. I'm still thinking about some unexplained details from the movie, and that's a good sign! Definitely one to watch!

Calaveras mexicanas

One of the things that I love most about Mexico are the calaveras aka Mexican colorful skulls. Nowadays it's fashionable wearing skulls, but most of the people don't realize it's actually a Mexican tradition. Western cultures state that you have to be afraid of death. But in Mexico, they celebrate death. Hence the colorful skulls. Día de los muertos was by far my favorite Mexican tradition to celebrate. I have tons of calavera jewelry and clothes, but I'm always looking for new additions to my collection. WhoWhatWear did a post about calaveras, and I wouldn't mind taking these babies home with me:

One day in Paris

A couple of weeks ago, my friend had the best idea : to go on a shopping day trip to Paris! And yesterday we did it! So much fun! The day started off very sunny, I was so bummed that I didn't took my sunglasses with me. But unfortunately after an hour, it started to rain. But we didn't care, since we spent most of the time shopping inside. Although you can spend days and days in Paris, a one day visit is worth it! Since I already know Paris from other stays, this time it was enough seeing the beautiful monuments and architecture in a rush. Yesterday, the only thing that mattered was shopping, macarons and oh, shopping! ♥

 First stop: Champs-Elysées

And breakfast at Ladurée! I was so excited for this, but I was so disappointed. The prices are ridiculously high here! I ate an éclair and drank chocomilk, and it was the worst I had in my life! You couldn't even drink the chocomilk! It was way to thick, like the chocolate you take with churros. The next time I'm just gonna buy some macarons and that's it! Such a pity. Thank god the amazing Ladurée interior made things better. And the divine macarons ofcourse ♥

Selfies at Ladurée

Necklace : J.Crew

Arc de Triomphe, the proof we were in Paris :D

When we couldn't handle the rain and wind anymore, we searched refugee in Galéries Lafayette, where Christmas has started already! The decoration is breathtaking! No filter needed!

I was a good girl this time, although I surpassed my shopping budget... Woopsies!

I only bought some things at H&M and in & Other Stories! Obsessed with this shop, I discovered it thanks to my friend!

What do you guys think of my new goodies? What is your fav? ♥

La piel que habito

Antonio Banderas, just marry me ok? He's like the latino version of George Clooney : he's getting better with age! ♥ As always, Pedro Almodóvar doesn't disappoint. Only the man himself can come up with movies as weird and original as La piel que habito. This movie is pure genius. And I'm so glad that Antonio, one of Almodóvar's fetish actors, has returned!

Amores perros

I love dogs. My own dog is like my baby, I spoil her like crazy. So you can only imagine how hard it was for me to watch Amores perros. I almost quit looking after 5 minutes. But I held on, because everybody's always praising this movie. And because it's a Mexican movie. Who I'm kidding? I kept on watching because Gael García Bernal in it. My ex boyfriend looks waaaaay too much alike Gael, but that's another story.

This is the most cruel movie I've ever seen. I can't understand why those dog fights exist. Men who participate in these cruel events for sure do this to compensate their own lack of manhood. This has to be the only reason. It's too pathetic for words. And too sad as well.

This movie is a perfect example of Mexican cinema : a couple of amazing storylines intertwined, genius actors and lots of couleur locale. Although it's sometimes hard to watch the movie, it's worth it. You just have to see it! Like now!

The Wolfman

Move over Jacob Black! This is what I call a real werewolf! Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins are their brilliant selves again. And kudos to Emily Blunt, she's such a stunning yet genuine actress! This was the movie I watched on Halloween: very entertaining and a tad scary! If you're a fan of the genre you must see this one!

Before I die

Jeremy Irvine is enough reason to watch this movie, me thinks ;)
Although this kind of movies is super sad to watch, I really love watching them! Perfect for a cold Sunday!
